General Application Information for school year 2008-2009
We will begin to accept applications for Fall, 2008 entry in October, 2007, however you should complete the ArtQuest application process as early as possible so that you will have the best chance of acceptance and choice of classes.
- Priority Application Deadline, Friday, February 22, 2008: In order to be eligible for the Priority AQ Registration held in early April, applicants must have submitted a completed AQ application by this date. Priority Registration details to follow upon acceptance.
- Final Application Deadline, Thursday, April 4, 2008: In order to have an admission decision before the end of the 07-08 School Year, applicants must have submitted a completed AQ application by this date.
- Late Applications, after April 4, 2008: After this date AQ does not guarantee the processing of applications, auditions or portfolio reviews until Fall, 2008, and then only when AQ staff is available and able to do so. Late application often adversely affects AQ acceptance, specialty choice, timely registration, transfer requests etc.

Do not insert Application materials into a notebook, folder or other report cover; instead simply paper clip together. (Portfolios, however, may be submitted in portfolio cases etc.) Applications with missing parts are considered incomplete and will not be processed until complete. Applications will not be processed during school holidays or after April 4, 2008, until school begins in Fall, 2008.
- Portfolios and Auditions: Specific requirements and timelines are described in detail in the attached “Portfolio/Audition Information” pages with Arts Specialty instructors’ contact information included. You should contact the appropriate instructor directly with questions pertaining to Portfolios or Auditions.
- Transfer Procedures: Transfer procedures are described on the “SRHS Enrollment & Transfer Information” page of this Packet. If you do not live in the normal Santa Rosa High School attendance boundaries, you must carefully follow the instructions for transfers. SRHS ENROLLMENT & TRANSFER INFORMATION
If
you do not live in the normal attendance boundaries of Santa Rosa High
School, you must not only apply to and be accepted into ArtQuest, you
must also be approved by the Santa Rosa City Schools District to attend
SRHS. It is very important that you go through the process for your
particular situation as you simultaneously proceed with your
application to ArtQuest. You should designate "ArtQuest - Specialized Program" as the reason for your request on your transfer request form. (Please Note: If you do not apply to and attend ArtQuest you MUST put another reason on your transfer request.)
More Questions? If you have further questions about the transfer process, please call:
AQ Administrative Assistant, Lisa Schoutsen at (707) 528-5070 X 6789
or
Child Welfare and Attendance Office, SR City Schools District, at (707) 528-5137.
Please follow the procedures outlined below, according to your "district of orgin":
WITHIN SRHS ATTENDANCE BOUNDARIES - If you would normally attend Santa Rosa High School, you need only go through the ArtQuest application process; no transfer is necessary.
INTRA - DISTRICT OPEN ENROLLMENT
- If you live in the attendance boundaries of Elsie Allen, Maria
Carillo, Montgomery or Piner High Schools (all part of the Santa Rosa
City Schools District) you should complete the Open Enrollment transfer process beginning at 8 a.m., Nov. 1, and ending at 5 p.m., Nov. 30, 2007. You may complete the application online at www.srcs.k12.ca.us,
but make sure you submit your transfer request and print out your
confirmation page, which will include your confirmation number. If you do not have access to a computer, you must submit the
application in person to the Child Welfare and Attendance Office, 211
Ridgway Ave., Santa Rosa (located behind the main office building of
Santa Rosa City Schools District) during regular business hours
(Mondays through Fridays, 8 am-12 noon or 1-5 pm). No
late, mailed, or faxed applications will be accepted. If you do no not
apply for a transfer during the above “Open Enrollment” time period,
you should call the Child Welfare and Attendance Office for further
instructions at (707)528-5137.
INTER - DISTRICT TRANSFER- If
you live in any other school district attendance boundaries, you must
apply for an Inter-District transfer at your own district office.
Since this procedure can sometimes be lengthy, make sure you submit
your transfer request to your district as soon as possible and
simultaneously submit your ArtQuest application materials to us. It is often helpful to check on the status of your Inter-District transfer request with your district of origin.
Remember:
- You must be accepted into both ArtQuest and SRHS in order to attend the program.
- Designate "ArtQuest-Specialized Program" as the reason for your transfer request. (If you do not apply to and attend the AQ program, you MUST put another reason on your transfer request.)
- Applicants will be informed of their acceptance into ArtQuest and the decision about their transfer request separately, beginning in early Spring, 2007, and continuing thereafter.
MORE QUESTIONS? Review the Application area of the web site, especially Portfolios/Auditions, as well as The ArtQuest Program, Arts Specialties, and Frequently Asked Questions ("FAQs") for answers to your questions.
